Confidence and Self-esteem Building Treatments in Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Amersham and Buckinghamshire

Confidence is commonly explained as a state of being sure either that a proposition or expectation is right or that a selected strategy is the best or most effective. Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself, believing that we are capable or correct, believing that we are able to succeed.

Confident person does not dwell on negative consequences, he or she is worrying far less about failure or the condemnation of others following possible failure. Self-confident person is then more likely to focus on the situation which means that success in that situation is more likely. Belief in one's abilities to carry out an activity comes through successful experience and may increase, or strengthen, an overall sense of self-confidence. Reports have also shown a link between high levels of confidence and earnings. Those who self-report that they were confident at school earned better salaries and were promoted more quickly.

Self-esteem is a term used in Counselling and Psychotherapy to reflect an individual's general emotional assessment of his or her own worth. It is a view of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. Self-esteem includes beliefs (for example, "I am lovable," "I am good enough") and emotions such as pride, hopelessness, joy and embarrassment. Self-esteem, is the negative or positive assessment of the self an how we about ourselves. Self-esteem is also known as the evaluative aspect of the self that comprises of emotions of worth, self-satisfactions and self-respect. One's self-esteem is also closely associated with self-confidence.

Self-esteem is a personality that an individual has which characterizes their judgments of their own worth. Self-esteem has been defined as a feeling of self-worth. According to Branden Nathaniel “Self-esteem is the experience of being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and being worthy of happiness." Branden defined self-esteem as the sum of self-confidence (a feeling of personal capacity) and self-respect (a feeling of personal worth).
